I had a dream…

I dreamed today…

Alone,

In a room filled with life and laughter.

My eyes; half-open, half-closed…

Perhaps to hide from the world,

this new found proclivity…

to ponder…

to wonder….

And perhaps because,

This myopic vision,

Is just what is needed…

It renders when wakefulness fails…

But let me tell you now of this dream…

Of those 90 seconds of altered reel…

It was pretty…

Just like you were…

There were painted walls;

All white; dove-like and pure.

I’ve always loved walls,

But of course you knew that…

But these walls, they were different.

They told stories;

And we listened,

rapt with attention…

And when these walls tired,

We danced…

No moonlights,

No music that played on cue.

Just you,

Just me,

And time…

Lots of time.

He was on our side today.

And not just time,

The world was ours too…

To laugh,

And smile,

And whisper…

But somewhere,

Shattered glass rained.

Wakefulness – our dear friend, had dawned again.

You see that’s why I needed to tell you of this dream.

Needed you to remember all that had been whispered…

To listen.

Without judgement…

And to remind you,

Just as I don’t tell you how to breathe…

I wish you’d understand –

That this is just how I deal…
